Cottage in the Meadows to Cease Operations

Hospice Care to be Paused

Community Saddened by Closure

The beloved Cottage in the Meadows hospice facility in Yakima will unfortunately cease operations on or before August 21st, 2023. MultiCare Yakima Memorial, the operator of the facility, has made the difficult decision to pursue a certificate of need from the Washington State Department of Health, which would allow them to expand their current hospice services at their main campus.

This news has deeply saddened the Yakima community, as Cottage in the Meadows has provided compassionate and dignified care to countless individuals and families facing end-of-life journeys. The facility's serene and home-like environment has made it a sanctuary for those in need.

While the physical closure of Cottage in the Meadows will be a loss to the community, MultiCare remains committed to providing hospice care in Yakima. The expansion of hospice services at their main campus will ensure that patients and families will continue to have access to high-quality, compassionate care.

In the meantime, the staff and volunteers at Cottage in the Meadows will continue to provide exceptional care to their current residents until the transition is complete. The community is encouraged to support hospice care by donating or volunteering their time.

The temporary pause in operations at Cottage in the Meadows is a reminder of the importance of palliative care and the need for continued support for those facing end-of-life challenges. As the community mourns the loss of this cherished facility, they can take comfort in knowing that the legacy of compassionate care it has provided will continue in other forms.
