Maryland Volleyball Hopes to Snap Postseason Drought Behind Veteran-Heavy Roster
Terps aim to return to NCAA Tournament for first time since 2017
Experienced players lead the way for Maryland volleyball
After missing the NCAA Tournament for the past five seasons, the Maryland volleyball team is hoping to make a return this year with the help of a veteran-heavy roster.
The Terps, who finished 14-14 last season, return nine players from their 2021 squad, including four starters.
Among the returning starters are seniors libero Kelsey Wicinski and outside hitter Erika Pritchard, both of whom were named to the All-Big Ten team last season.
Wicinski led the Big Ten in digs per set (5.10) and was second in the conference in total digs (543).
Pritchard was third in the Big Ten in kills per set (4.27) and fifth in the conference in total kills (457).
In addition to Wicinski and Pritchard, the Terps also return senior outside hitter Hanna Stover and junior middle blocker Laila Ricks.
Stover was second on the team in kills per set (3.60) and fourth in the Big Ten in total kills.
Ricks was third on the team in kills per set (3.03) and fourth in total blocks.
With so much experience returning, the Terps are hoping to make a run at the NCAA Tournament this year.
They open the season on August 26 at the College of Charleston Tournament.
